YHA Whitby

A youth hostel in a Grade I listed mansion next to Whitby Abbey, with one of the finest views in the north.

YHA Whitby occupies Abbey House, the 17th-century mansion of the Cholmley family built beside the abbey ruins at the top of the 199 steps. It offers private rooms and dorms, a café and bar, and a location that no hotel in town can match: the abbey on one side, the sea on the other and the whole of Whitby below. It is very popular with families and Coast to Coast walkers, so book ahead.
