The Moors National Park Centre

Set in a former shooting lodge in gardens beside the Esk, The Moors Centre is the best introduction to the North York Moors. Inside there are interactive exhibitions about the landscape, wildlife and history of the moors, an art gallery, a shop and a café with a terrace.

Outside, the grounds run down to the river with easy waymarked walks, a large adventure playground, picnic areas and a wildlife garden. Longer trails lead up to Danby Beacon and along the river to Danby village.

The centre hosts a full programme of events, from guided walks and craft workshops to exhibitions and children's activities, particularly in the school holidays. Toilets, accessible paths and parking are available.
