Goathland Station

The perfectly preserved 1865 station that became Hogsmeade in Harry Potter and Aidensfield in Heartbeat.

Goathland station opened in 1865 and has been restored by the North Yorkshire Moors Railway to its 1920s appearance, with gas lamps, enamel signs, a goods shed tea room and a camping coach.

It appeared as Hogsmeade Station in Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, and throughout the long run of Heartbeat as Aidensfield. On a busy summer day, with a steam engine simmering at the platform, it is one of the most photographed places on the moors.

The Rail Trail to Grosmont begins here, and the village, with its pubs, tea rooms and sheep-cropped greens, is a five-minute walk uphill.
