Egton Bridge stepping stones

Two sets of stepping stones across the Esk in the middle of the village, a favourite with children and dogs.

Egton Bridge has not one but two sets of stepping stones, crossing the Esk and its island beside the road bridge. They are wide, flat and well spaced, and on a summer day the shallows beside them are full of paddling children and swimming dogs.

After heavy rain the river rises quickly and the stones can be submerged or slippery; use the road bridge instead. A short walk upstream leads to St Hedda's Church, and the two village pubs are moments away.
