The railway opens its main season with visiting locomotives and an intensive timetable over the bank holiday weekend.

The spring gala is the railway's traditional season opener, with guest engines from other heritage lines joining the home fleet for three days of intensive running, freight demonstrations and evening trains. Grosmont's engine sheds are a hive of activity.
