Duck Bridge

A 14th-century packhorse bridge over the Esk, narrow, humped and still in use by walkers and cyclists.

Duck Bridge is one of the oldest bridges in the valley, built in the 14th century and named after George Duck, a Danby man who paid for its repair in the 18th century. Its single, steeply humped arch spans the Esk beneath Danby Castle, and it still carries the lane, though cars use the modern ford alongside.

The Esk Valley Walk crosses here on its way from The Moors Centre towards Castleton, and it is an easy stroll from Danby village.
