The abbey ruins lit in colour after dark for the October half-term and Halloween.

For a week around Halloween, English Heritage floodlights Whitby Abbey in shifting colours and opens the site after dark, with Dracula-themed storytelling and a spectacular view of the ruins against the night sky. Book in advance; it sells out.

Dates shown are the usual pattern for this event and should be confirmed with the organiser before travelling.
