Traditional long-sword dancing through the village on the Saturday after Plough Monday, a custom revived in 1923.

The Goathland Plough Stots are a long-sword dance team whose tradition dates back centuries. On the Saturday after Plough Monday (the first Monday after Twelfth Night), the team, with a plough and musicians, tours the village performing the sword dance at the pubs and hotels, ending with an evening of dancing and music.
