Held on the first Tuesday of August since 1800: the world's heaviest gooseberries, weighed to the grain.

One of the oldest gooseberry shows in the world, the Egton Bridge Old Gooseberry Show has been held every year since 1800. Growers bring their berries to be weighed on the show's apothecary scales, competing for the heaviest single berry and the heaviest twelve, along with classes for twins and triplets. The world record has been set here more than once.

The show is a small, friendly village afternoon with a produce tent and refreshments, and it is free to visit.
