Danby Beacon and Danby Castle from The Moors Centre

From The Moors Centre, take the path north across the road and climb through fields and onto the open moor to Danby Beacon, the high point of the walk at 299 metres, with views across the valley to the coast.

Follow the ridge road west then take the moorland track and lanes down into Danby village. Cross the river and continue south into Danby Dale, past Danby Castle and over Duck Bridge, the medieval packhorse bridge.

Return along the riverside path on the south bank of the Esk back to The Moors Centre.

The climb to the Beacon is steady rather than steep, but the moor is exposed in bad weather.
